The bathing season closes with 43 people drowned, the highest figure since 2014

The summer of 2026 is the darkest since 2014 in terms of drownings, with a total of 43 fatalities. That is 17 more than last year. According to Civil Protection, since the campaign began on June 15, of the 43 drownings, 27 have occurred at the beach, 11 in swimming pools, and 5 in open waters.
