GironaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a minor student for stabbing another in a Girona institute. As reported by Ràdio Girona and confirmed by the Mossos to el ARA, the events took place around 1 p.m. at the Narcís Xifra institute while the two students were fighting. One of them attacked the other with a knife in the schoolyard and was arrested for a crime of injury.
The victim has been transferred to the Josep Trueta Hospital, but their life is not feared for, as it involves minor injuries that required stitches and they could be discharged soon. Both students are minors and are in the final stage of secondary education —between third and fourth of ESO—, therefore, they would be between 15 and 16 years old. For now, the reasons for the confrontation are unknown.
The Narcís Xifra Institute is located in the Pont Major neighborhood, at the northern entrance of the city, one of the most humble areas of the Girona capital, between Pedret, Montjuïc, and Sarrià de Ter. It is an institute with a large student body, which in recent years has strongly committed to vocational training, with many disciplines taught exclusively at this center, to the detriment of ESO and Baccalaureate courses, which have been losing weight.
In the square at the entrance and exit gate, there had occasionally been scuffles, insults, or occasional pranks by a problematic student or former student, but never any major fight with knife wounds like the one that led to the arrest of the minor involved. Nor in the interior courtyard of the center, which has a series of basketball courts and a whole meadow that leads to the Ter River.
