BarcelonaAfter 24 hours of intense searching, the Generalitat Firefighters have decided to raise the device to find the two people allegedly missing The search began on Saturday night in Cubelles, in the Garraf region, due to heavy downpours. Emergency services have confirmed that they do not plan to resume rescue efforts until new evidence emerges.

The search began on Saturday night after a witness assured rescue teams in the area that he had seen the Foix River carry two people to the mouth of the river. Yesterday, emergency services spokespersons announced that the alert had not come through 112, but rather through a witness on the ground. This Sunday morning, the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, confirmed in an interview on RAC1 that no missing persons had been reported to the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police). The eyewitness also spoke on Catalunya Ràdio and confirmed his version of events. He explained that he saw a woman accompanied by a minor, and that the woman had tripped while trying to cross a footbridge and was dragged several meters. The witness took the opportunity to ask the woman to inform the authorities if she was finally saved.

At the time the alert was received, the Foix River was running very high due to the afternoon storm and the flooding of the reservoir, which had to open floodgates, causing the river to overflow. During Saturday and Sunday, firefighters searched for traces of the missing persons "without success," both in the riverbed and at the mouth, and also on the beach and in the sea.
