A breakdown in the Cercanías train leaves the screens and the public address system of all stations out of service for 4 hours
New delays on the fourth day after the restoration of service through the Roda de Berà tunnel
BarcelonaThe public address system and the remote indicators at all Cercanías stations were out of service this morning for "technical reasons". "Pay attention to the front and side panels of the trains," the operator asked on social networks. The breakdown, reported shortly before eight in the morning, has not affected the frequency of trains, but it has affected the information received by users. It has taken 4 hours to resolve.
Company sources consulted by ARA explained that the breakdown has made it impossible to broadcast, either on screens or by public address, the pre-recorded information on the schedules and the passage of trains. Both channels, on the other hand, could broadcast this information live, either from the station itself or from the Cercanías control centre.
The same sources explained that the company's IT technicians have been working since early in the morning to resolve the incident.
In parallel, delays were noticed again this Thursday, on the fourth day after the restoration of the service in the Roda de Berà tunnel. According to information provided by Cercanías, the train between Tortosa and Barcelona suffered delays of up to 50 minutes.
The regional minister for Territory, Sílvia Paneque, assured this Wednesday that she will hold meetings "at the highest level" every day until the service is normalized at this point. The minister and representative of the Ministry of Transport, Cercanías and Adif will be present at the meetings to monitor the incidents and to seek solutions to restore the service with "speed and urgency."
After finishing the most important phase of the works on the Mediterranean Corridor, which has lasted five months, in recent days there have been continued delays to the service in the south of Catalonia. Paneque has also asked to appear in Parliament to report on the situation.
