Delays and complications on five commuter lines: another morning of incidents
Three breakdowns in Castellbisbal, Fabra i Puig (Barcelona) and Reus have disrupted traffic on the R3, R4, R7, R8 and R15 this morning.

BarcelonaNew morning of Complications for people traveling by commuter trainTwo separate incidents, one in Castellbisbal and another at Fabra i Puig station in Barcelona, are disrupting traffic on up to five different lines, the R3, the R4, the R7, the R8, and the R15.
On the one hand, the first breakdown recorded was in Castellbisbal, specifically at the station. This incident forces the R4 to run on a single track between this station and Molins de Rei. Furthermore, it has also caused only two trains per hour per direction to run between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Hospitalet de Llobregat from early morning. The same breakdown means that the R8 trains also run on a single track through Castellbisbal station and may cause back-up impacts on traffic on the R7.
A few minutes after this first infrastructure problem, the train operator, Renfe, reported another incident, this time at Fabra i Puig station, where just yesterday afternoon there was an incident that caused delays on many lines. This second problem causes trains on the R3, R4, and R7 lines to stop or run more slowly as they approach the affected section.
Finally, a breakdown in Reus has also caused significant delays, of up to an hour, on trains on the R15 heading toward Estacion de Francia in Barcelona. The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. Traffic on this line returned to normal around 11:00 a.m. The delays are due to the breakdown of a train leaving the station in the capital of Baix Camp at 7:05 a.m., and because the subsequent 7:11 a.m. train leaving Móra la Nova (Ribera de Ebro) departed an hour late due to a change in management.
The infrastructure manager, Adif, assures that company technicians are already on the ground at each of the problem areas to resolve the incidents "as quickly as possible."
This April's breakdowns come after A black March for the commuter rail networkIn the 31 days of the last month, Cercanías accumulated more than seventy breakdowns, which, as Transport Minister Óscar Puente admitted yesterday, will make March a month "difficult to overcome." The combination of incidents and the impact of strikes created a fateful mix for users. Furthermore, Cercanías suspended two workers for possible sabotage on the network, and one of them was fired, as Transport Minister Óscar Puente confirmed yesterday.
