A 69-year-old woman dies in a fire in an apartment in Terrassa.
The flames have completely destroyed a room and the dining room of the building.
BarcelonaA 69-year-old woman died this Wednesday morning in a house fire that burned down a third floor apartment in the Castellassa passageway in Terrassa (Vallès Occidental). The Generalitat Fire Department received the alert at 6:19 a.m. and immediately activated five units: three water trucks, a ladder truck, and a coordination and command vehicle. However, upon arrival, they found the fire already fully developed.
The flames had burned down the third floor of the building, which had also been breached through the façade. Once they were able to gain access to the interior of the building, they located the lifeless body of a person. According to sources from the Generalitat Fire Department, it was an elderly woman. The fire completely burned down one bedroom and the dining room of the apartment. The rest of the apartment was also affected by smoke and the effects of the high temperatures.
For their part, the Mossos d'Esquadra have activated four patrols and have taken charge of the investigation and finding the possible causes of the fire. Initially, the main hypothesis the police are working with is that it was an accident
Neighbors confined
The affected building consists of a ground floor and five other apartments. During the fire, the remaining residents confined themselves to their homes. Once the firefighters extinguished the blaze, they began ventilating and inspecting the other buildings to ensure the rest of the community was in good condition.
The Emergency Medical System (EMS) has also activated five units and treated two injured people, in mild condition, who did not require transfer to a hospital.
