A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the Sants neighborhood of Barcelona.

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) are investigating a new homicide in Catalonia. A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death this Monday night in the Sants neighborhood of Barcelona. According to sources with access to the case, around 11 p.m. the young man was with two other minors on Antoni de Campmany Street when, according to initial hypotheses, they were attacked by another group of youths armed with knives. The fight took place near the Santa Eulalia metro station.

Two minors have been seriously injured and both—from the initial group of three youths—have been taken to hospital. One died from stab wounds and the other has been admitted. According to sources consulted by this newspaper, his life is not currently in danger. The third minor was unharmed.

The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) are now searching for the group that attacked the three youths. While there was initial talk of a possible robbery with violence, as the hours passed, the hypothesis that the young men knew each other and that it was all sparked by a previous conflict between the two groups gained strength. In other words, it could be revenge, and one group might have surprised the other.

"Help, they hit me."

This Tuesday morning, on a section of Antoni de Campmany Street, there is a red stain that could be a pool of blood from the attack. According to a witness, the three young victims of the attack, already injured, began running through the area, on the border between Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, crying for help. "Help, help, they hit me," he claims they were saying. Finally, one of them, according to the same witness, lay down in front of the Santa Eulalia metro stop, and another remained curled up, while the third cried for help. The witness claims that the father of the dead boy approached the scene this morning.

Screams were heard during the attack, surprising some neighbors, who went out into the street to see what was happening. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Barcelona has opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the murder.
