The Government and the State approve the creation of the Catalonia commuter rail network in preparation for the transfer.

The Spanish government and the executive branch jointly approved this Tuesday the creation of the new joint venture, Cercanías Catalunya, which will transfer the service to the Generalitat (Catalan regional government). Renfe will retain the majority stake, but the Catalan government will control its management. as had already been agreed.
