Salvador Illa appears to take stock of the year with the challenge of financing on the horizon

BarcelonaAs the year draws to a close, the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, appears to take stock of 2025. The head of the Catalan government puts an end to the uncertainty surrounding whether he will finally be able to to pass the 2026 budget or it will enter the second year of the legislature without updated accounts.

To resolve the question, it is key that the Socialists seal the financing agreement with ERCA pact, the final details of which both sides are still ironing out, but which is on track.

Comuns, the other investiture partner, demanded a precondition to begin budget negotiations: extending public transport subsidies. Last week both parties announced an agreement.
