Morocco sends a letter to the MEPs to influence the vote on Ceuta

The Moroccan Embassy to the European Union sent a letter this Tuesday to several Members of the European Parliament, in which it denies having had anything to do with the mass entry of migrants into Ceuta at the end of July. The letter came to light when the PNV MEP, Oihane Agirregoitia, mentioned it during the debate on the crisis at the Spanish enclave in the European Parliament.

In the email, Morocco commits to readmitting the immigrants who crossed the border illegally and ensures that it is working to determine the causes of the incident and find those responsible for the events. In this regard, it points to the role played by "disinformation" on social media and the "manipulation of vulnerable people by human traffickers".

"What interest would Morocco have in provoking a serious crisis with Spain and the European Union, especially at a time when the EU is Morocco's main partner and relations between Morocco and the EU are experiencing a new process of strengthening and consolidation?", the text adds.

However, sources from the PP, the PSOE, and the Comuns have no record of this letter.
