Compromís denounces that the aid collected by Castelló for the Venezuelan people continues to not reach its destination

ValenciaThe Municipal Group of Compromís in Castelló declares that it will request explanations from the municipal government of the PP and Vox, led by Begoña Carrasco, "regarding the situation of the humanitarian aid collected in Castelló for the people affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela".

They denounce that the shipment that was to be destined for the country has not yet arrived and ask that "redirecting the material to Colombia be considered given the difficulties in finding an entity that can distribute it on the ground".

Aid that has not arrived

The deputy spokesperson for Compromís, Pau Sancho, recalled that "the City Council publicly announced the shipment of 24,000 kilos of food and essential products collected thanks to the solidarity of the citizens of Castelló". He states that "the municipal government itself assured that the shipment would depart for Venezuela on July 12 and Begoña Carrasco went to Tetuán XIV to supervise and photograph the departure of the last shipment".

"Carrasco took the photo announcing that Castelló was sending 24,000 kilos of aid to Venezuela and now we discover that they don't know how to get it there. Once again, propaganda comes first and then they try to figure out how to manage what they have announced," Sancho criticized.

"Less propaganda and more management"

"Solidarity is not Begoña Carrasco's or her government's. The 24,000 kilos were contributed by citizens who trusted that they would reach the people of Venezuela who needed them," Sancho concluded.

"The least the City Council can do is respect that trust, explain with total transparency what happened to the shipment, and guarantee that the aid reaches its destination for which it was collected. Castellón's solidarity needs an administration that is up to the task: less propaganda and more management".
