BarcelonaThe Prosecutor's Office is seeking a four-year prison sentence for reckless homicide against the porn actor, director, and producer Ignacio Jordá, known as Nacho Vidal. The charges against him allegedly occurred during a ritual involving common toad venom in July 2019, during which photographer José Luis Abad died.

The death occurred at a home owned by Vidal in Enguera (Valencia), where the actor's cousin and a friend were also present. The victim arrived to spend the day and perform the ritual, which, according to the prosecution, Vidal was in charge of directing given his experience in these types of rituals. Both the Prosecutor's Office and the private prosecution, which includes the victim's siblings, accuse Vidal and his cousin of manipulating a highly toxic substance, common toad venom, and administering it without any precautions or precision.

The prosecution's brief alleges that, during the ritual, the photographer began to tremble and abruptly fell to the ground. According to a video recording, only 24 seconds elapsed between the ingestion of the poison and Abad's first convulsions. The prosecution claims that Vidal continued with the ritual ceremony despite the victim being unconscious, trembling, and struggling to breathe, and that it took another twenty minutes before emergency medical services were alerted.

The private prosecution also seeks four years in prison for reckless homicide for Vidal, but increases the sentence to seven years for a second crime against public health for handling toxic substances. In March 2024, the Valencia Court revoked the provisional dismissal of the case against Vidal, considering that there was sufficient evidence to try the actor, his cousin, and his friend, for whom the private prosecution—but not the Prosecutor's Office—is seeking three years in prison for concealment of guilt.
