Paula Bonet's stalker posted a photograph with a hammer on the day of the attack at the artist's gallery

The creator explains that the man left pre-trial detention ten days ago and fears for his safety

BarcelonaThe same day that the artist and writer Paula Bonet reported on Instagram that her gallery where she works had been destroyed, her stalker also posted on social media a photograph of a giant hammer accompanied by a text in which he assured that "the purpose of the aggression is domination, not destruction". And a few hours later, the man added two more posts. In the first, holding the book El fin del amor by Eva Illouz; in the second, he is seen looking at the camera with the text "Get over it. Move on". The man was released a few days before the attack on the gallery and after having been in preventive detention since July 2025, when he entered Bonet's La Madriguera workshop, breaking down the door, stealing a necklace and leaving a message written on the blackboard.

"The person who has been harassing me since 2019 has been released. Exactly ten days later, someone broke the glass of the door of my art gallery", wrote the artist immediately after checking that they had broken into her premises again. Someone broke the glass of the door, moved the paintings and stole a small piece. Bonet directly correlated this attack with the release of her stalker, the man who has been pursuing and threatening her since 2019 and who in the first trial claimed to suffer from erotomanic disorder. The artist reported the case to the Mossos d'Esquadra, who are investigating the case as a possible robbery with force.

Before harassing the artist and writer from Vila-real, the man had done the same to other girls. L'ARA gathered different testimonies that spoke of the obsession and persecution they suffered from the same individual.

Paula Bonet has lived through a long judicial process for this case, and has even had to change her address, cancel events, and limit her professional activity to avoid it. The man has spent at least three periods in preventive detention (in 2020, 2021, and 2025) and has broken the restraining order each time. After sending him to prison, in 2023 justice acquitted him because he was not criminally responsible, as he suffered from a mental disorder. For this reason, he was not to go to prison, but rather to undergo psychiatric treatment for a maximum of 3 years and 3 months in confinement and one more year of treatment outside the center. She also prohibited him from approaching within 500 meters of the artist for ten years.

The artist explains that she is publishing this information to guarantee her integrity: "I have been trying to live a normal life for a year because I do not want to give up the happiness that my work, my family, my friends, my dog, and my partner give me. For a year now, I have been convincing myself that it is possible, and I have been able to paint and write again. For a time I had police escort, but now I have no more security than that of my network of friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and that of our eyes," she states.
