Shakira's statement in the middle of the legal battle with Piqué: "May the effort not only be the children's"

BarcelonaShakira has released a statement after the meeting she held this Tuesday at the City of Justice in Barcelona with Gerard Piqué, as part of the procedure to review the visitation schedule for their children, Milan and Sasha. The singer asserts that her request does not seek to reduce the time the minors spend with their father, but rather that the effort of the travel between Miami and Barcelona be shared.

In the statement, the Colombian singer's team proposes that, during short holiday periods, it should be Piqué who travels to Miami to meet with the children. The goal is to avoid the minors having to take short-duration transatlantic trips, with the consequent jet lag, and to allow them to maintain their school, social, and family routine for longer.

The matter is being debated in the Court of First Instance number 18 of Barcelona, which specializes in family law. Both Piqué and Shakira appeared in person this Tuesday, after negotiations between the two parties failed to reach an agreement.

The former couple ratified the separation agreement in December 2022 that allowed the singer to move with her children to Miami. Milan and Sasha have been living there with their mother since April 2023. Now, almost four years later, the dispute centers on how the minors' travel should be organized to maintain the visitation schedule with their father.
