BarcelonaSeven months later from the divorce with Jennifer LopezBen Affleck has spoken publicly about the breakup. He did so in an extensive interview with the magazine GQDuring the conversation, the journalist asks him about the documentary The greatest love story never told, which revolves around marriage. Specifically, he asks about a scene in which López explains that they are people with private lives but as artists they have a public dimension, and Affleck appears to be in a resigned mood. The actor has now explained that he participated in the documentary because he considered it "an interesting test," and has admitted that López's way of embracing fame is much more expansive than his, who considers himself more reserved.

"As is often the case in relationships, you don't always see eye to eye on things [...]. I love and support her (Lopez), and I wanted people to see that. What I was trying to say in that clip was, 'You don't marry a sea captain and then say you love sailing.' That's not a huge rift. You can't just watch the documentary and say, 'Okay, now I understand the issues those two had,'" Affleck argues.

Regarding the reasons for the split, the actor adds: "There's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. I guess there's a tendency to analyze breakups and want to pinpoint the causes. But honestly, the truth is a lot more mundane than people probably realize." Affleck stresses that he has "tremendous respect" for Lopez and considers her to be "a great person."
