As expected, the parties have weighed the political scope of the scandal involving the minor who was raped and sexually exploited while under the care of the Generalitat (Catalan Government). Thus, the parliamentary groups have already submitted the corresponding requests for the creation of parliamentary committees on the functioning of the DGAIA (Generalitat). Is this with the aim of thoroughly studying an issue as delicate as the care of minors and significantly improving the service, or perhaps to exploit the dysfunctions to harm their respective political adversaries? The answer is offensive. An investigation that would extend from 2016 to 2020, while the PSC (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), ERC (Electrical Workers' Party), and Comuns (Comuns) called for it to begin in 2011, when CiU councilors still served in the government. Finally, Junts (Junts) has also embraced this second option. Meanwhile, the PP (People's Party) and Vox (Vox) maintain that it is already sordid enough.

It's also likely that the din that is brewing from now on will quickly fade away from any concern for the victims, whether in this specific case or in the many other cases that have undoubtedly occurred over the years. The woman (who was also the Social Affairs Minister) had also been raped and sexually abused by a network of pedophiles who targeted minors taken in by the public administration as preferred victims, because they were easy targets. It's a recurring situation, and the extreme vulnerability of these minors is influenced by a host of factors, ranging from their own need for care to many of the professionals our system employs to work with them. In the case of Mallorca, the evidence of this dark spot in our society served the PP to even suggest a network of sexual exploitation of minors promoted or condoned by Francina Armengol. They tried to use it as ammunition to avoid the scandal of the Ombudsman's report on sexual abuse committed by religious figures.

What all this means is that painful, delicate, and sensitive issues like this one should be kept away from the grinding, adrenaline-pumping machines of political parties, the better.
