To the historical data of the old problem (centuries of Catalan prohibitions, fascist victory in the Civil War, forty years of dictatorship without schooling in Catalan that coincides with the arrival of a large wave of Spanish-speaking migration), new ones are added: in democracy, Catalan continues to have a lower legal status than Spanish, the global situation and the independence process are failing.

We are a country with a spirit of compromise and a fragile collective morale, combining unbridled euphoria with a lack of confidence; combined with the repression from Spain that has come before, it leaves us once again doubting our strength and our rights.

There are parties and pressure groups that have interpreted the defeat of the independence movement as an opportunity to dissolve our identity in those where the laws and the market coincide, so we abandon the pretension that Catalan is the language of all and we move to Spanish and English. Some do it the hard way, as always, and others try to achieve it.careful.It's vital that they know that, just as they haven't achieved it so far, they won't achieve it in the future. And that we are aware that, despite playing on an upward trajectory, thousands of people are joining the Catalan-speaking world every day. If we want to continue growing it, we need well-informed political and social attitudes.
