TerrassaEls Minyons de Terrassa have been working for a long time to make castells an activity open to everyone. This commitment has now translated into the Acompanya'm project, an initiative developed jointly with Prodis and Escola Heura, which aims to make both the group's social headquarters, Cal Reig, and the experience of living a castells performance into fully cognitively accessible spaces.

The official presentation of the project took place just a couple of weeks ago at Cal Reig in a day full of emotion, where students from Escola Heura and users from Prodis were the first to discover and try out the new accessibility tools. The initiative represents a new step in the Minyons' social strategy, which back in 2025 had already launched the Sentim space, an adapted area for people with sensory hypersensitivity to enjoy castells performances. The success of that experience, which will continue this season, has served as a starting point to expand the project and also bring it into the group's daily life.

The result is a comprehensive transformation of Cal Reig. The headquarters now has a system of pictograms and inclusive signage that facilitates autonomous orientation for anyone within the building. Rooms, entrances, services, and common areas have been adapted with clear and easy-to-interpret signage, specifically designed for people with intellectual disabilities, developmental disorders, or comprehension difficulties, but useful for all visitors.

Another of the major innovations is the creation of the booklet "Veiem Castells," a cognitive anticipation guide that explains in a visual, organized, and simple way what a castells performance is like. The goal is to reduce the uncertainty that a complex environment like a diada can generate, and to make it easier for anyone to anticipate what will happen, understand how it works, and enjoy it with more autonomy.

The project is the result of collaborative work initiated following the inauguration of the Minyons' new headquarters. According to Prodis, the proposal to use pictograms at Cal Reig arose after the group of people with cerebral palsy from the organization visited the building and identified the opportunity to make it a more accessible space. From there, a co-creation process began in which the users themselves participated in identifying needs, designing resources, and validating them.

The Heura School has provided the necessary pedagogical and technical knowledge so that all tools meet cognitive accessibility criteria. This discipline seeks to make environments, information, and services easy to understand and use, and to encourage people to act with autonomy and security.

During the presentation, the head of the Minyons' pedagogical area, Ariadna Rizo, summarized the spirit of the initiative and said that "castells are for everyone and by everyone" and argued that eliminating invisible barriers "is not an act of charity, but a necessity to grow as a group, as a city, and as a society." In the same vein, Prodis and the Heura School highlighted the value of working together so that popular culture is truly inclusive and pointed out that cognitive accessibility benefits many more people than one usually imagines.

The event concluded with a tour of the different spaces of Cal Reig, where participants were able to test the new resources and share their impressions on an emotions mural. The day also served to thank the collaboration of the Office of Diverse Capacities of the Terrassa City Council, which has technically advised the project.

With Acompanya'm, the Minyons de Terrassa are turning their headquarters into a benchmark for accessibility within the casteller world and paving the way for other popular culture entities to incorporate similar measures. The objective is clear: that any person, regardless of their abilities, can understand, live, and feel castells as their own experience.
