Opening

The Fontané restaurant, serving Catalan cuisine with doors open to all, will open on April 27th at the Castell de Sant Julià.

The Roca brothers have timed the opening day to coincide with the saint's day of their mother, Montserrat Fontané.

The Roca brothers are great defenders of Catalan cuisine, and in 2025 they have set out to honour it once again with a new restaurant, which will be located on the first floor of the Sant Julià hotel, on the first floor, on the ground floor of which is the Espíritu Roca, and already has an opening date: April 27, Mare de Déu. In the castle where the world's only wine cellar is now located, the hotel and restaurant that has just been awarded a Michelin star (Esperit Roca), will be adding a new project this spring, which will be open to everyone, not just those staying at the hotel.

Currently, breakfast is served on the first floor for guests. It's an open-plan space with large windows that overlook the green mountain landscape, and is made entirely of wood, earth, and tables. As is their trademark, it's a comfortable and welcoming place, which the Roca brothers are considering converting to a restaurant.

Access will have its own door, different from the one at Espiritu Roca, which is located on the other side of Sant Julià Castle. The Roca brothers aren't providing further details about the project because they're working on it, but they're clear about the essence: Catalan cuisine, which is the very inspiration that led them to open the restaurant. Normal in the middle of Girona, led by chef Elisabeth Nolla.
