The definitive ranking of the best-selling books for Sant Jordi 2025
The Booksellers' Guild confirms a record day, with 26 million in sales

BarcelonaThe Catalan Booksellers' Guild confirmed this Wednesday, two weeks after Sant Jordi, the record figures that were announced the night before: €26 million in sales, representing a 2.8% increase compared to 2024, and 2 million copies sold. According to the Book Chamber, "these figures make this year's day the best in history and reaffirm the consolidation of the growth trend of recent years." It turns out that Easter, so close to Sant Jordi, instead of harming sales, actually boosted them.
Following the usual trend for the day, 52.3% of the books sold were in Catalan and 47.7% in Spanish. If we look at it by district, Catalan always wins, except in Tarragona: in Barcelona, Catalan accounted for 51.6% of copies sold, in Girona 64.3%, in Lleida 61.3%, and in Tarragona 49.5%.
74,450 different titles were sold, which demonstrates "the creative talent, the editorial power, and the extent of the bookseller network," according to the sector itself. By genre, fiction represents 35%, children's and young adult literature 29.9%, non-fiction 23.8%, and comics 11.3%.
This Wednesday, the final rankings of the best-selling books were also published, with few changes compared to the trending lists from two weeks ago. The top of the four lists are Xavier Bosch, Xavier Sala y Martín, Javier Cercas, and Joël Dicker, who replaces María Dueñas in first place (in Catalan, Dicker drops one position, leaving Silvia Soler in second place). Industry sources point out that these lists represent less than 6% of sales. The list is compiled using data from LibriRed (which brings together 230 bookstores), including sales from street stalls, and according to estimates by GFK.
