The Generalitat (Catalan government) blesses the fact that RTVE's new channel only reaches 60% of Catalan in its first year.

The Presidency is already preparing to transfer a private multiplex to 3Cat so it can broadcast in UHD.

BarcelonaThe brand has not yet been decided, but the new Catalan-language offering from Radiotelevisión Española is securing a spot on DTT. The decision will be made soon, according to a draft government agreement to which this newspaper has had access, which also stipulates the transfer of 50% of this multiplex to TV3 so that it can broadcast its first channel in ultra-high definition (UHD). This seems unlikely, given the constant losses generated by 8TV over its three decades of existence. Before implementing this government agreement, a report has been requested from the Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC), which may soon be signed with RTVE. The draft, to which ARA has also had access, establishes a 15-year license and enshrines what was already suggested at the channel's press conference: that it will not launch entirely in Catalan, but may have up to 40% of its programming in Spanish. After two years, 100% Catalan production should have been achieved. However, precedents are not particularly encouraging: when the Godó Group won the management of the so-called private multiplex, the conditions of the concession indicated that it had to operate all four channels and do so entirely in Catalan. Budgetary constraints suggest a modest start in terms of objectives. Aside from the Sant Cugat center's own resources (which must also produce for La 1 and La 2 in Spanish), €8 million is expected to be allocated in the first year for program purchases, rising to €11 million in the second year. The PP-Vox coalition would not exactly be in favor of this project.
