Revolution at Prisa: Oughourlian reshuffles the group's leadership
The president renews senior positions after the internal division caused by the decision not to make free-to-air television available.

The president of the media group, Joseph Oughourlian, has initiated an internal regeneration process that kicked off with the appointment of Jaume Serra as General Manager of Radio and Audiovisual Business for Spain within the organization chart of Prisa Media, the group's media division. Serra was already part of this project – until now he held the position of Prisa Media representative in Catalonia – and will be one of the pillars of the new era led by Pilar Gil, who was appointed CEO of the media division this Tuesday.
Along with Serra's appointment, Oughourlian has dismissed three senior officials. This rise in the leadership of Prisa Media is attributed to The internal division caused by Oughourlian's decision not to opt for free-to-air television that Pedro Sánchez's government wants to offer, considering it a dubious business. A group of Prisa executives—those closest to the Moncloa government—promoted the project and, since then, have been ejected from the group, such as Carlos Núñez and José Miguel Contreras, who left in February.
Among the positions that have now been removed from the organization chart is Alejandro Elortegui, the last position during Juan Luis Cebrián's time as president of the media group. Elortegui was director of new projects at Prisa Media since 2022 and had previously worked at the sports newspaper Ace and the digital one The Huffington PostPrisa also dismissed Juan Cantón, who had been with the company for twenty years and was currently the General Director of Press, and Luis Baena, the General Director of Marketing at Prisa Media. Finally, a fourth senior official has been relocated: Ignacio Soto, currently the General Director of Cadena Ser, has been appointed coordinator of the strategic plan that Prisa Media will present after the summer.
Beyond the changes already confirmed, Madrid newspapers such as The debate They point out that in the next few days Pepa Bueno could jump as director ofThe Country and that Fran Llorente, who joined Prisa Media in 2021, will replace Montserrat Domínguez as editorial and content director of Prisa's Radio and Audiovisual Business.
