BarcelonaThe heat has already arrived, but the platforms do not lose the illusion that we spend time on the sofa and in front of the screen. Among the attractions of the June series offer, we find Javier Bardem revisiting a classic film title, a new heroine emerging from the world of Jane Austen, and more dragons from George R.R. Martin.

'Not fit for the job'
Disney+ / June 2
Les protagonistes de 'No aptos para el trabajo'

Entering the world of work can be as exciting as it is frustrating. This is the idea that Mindy Kaling explores with her new series, a comedy that, as she explains, would close a trilogy loosely inspired by her experiences and made up of Never Have I Ever (Netflix) and The Sex Lives of College Girls (HBO Max). This time, the protagonists are a group of guys and girls in their early twenties who are facing their first jobs as adults while trying to build a life for themselves in Manhattan.

'Cape fear'
Apple TV / June 5
Javier Bardem

Javier Bardem dares to step into the shoes of the killer Max Cady, the psychopath that Robert De Niro made famous in the film Cape Fear (1991), directed by Martin Scorsese (there is an earlier version, from 1962, starring Gregory Peck). The actor is not the only star tied to this series adaptation of a title that is already considered a classic: his co-star is Amy Adams, who plays lawyer Anna Bowden, who along with her husband sent Cady to prison and who now faces the wrath of the ex-convict. Steven Spielberg is producing the series.

'33 days'
Atresplayer / June 7
Una escena de '33 días'

Carles Porta is not content with being the authentic King Midas of true crime non-fiction formats; now he is also making the leap into fiction. Atresmedia has turned the story of Brito and Picatoste, the inmates of Ponent prison who escaped during a hospital transfer, into a series. In the fictional version, the characters' names have been changed: the prisoners here are called Prieto (José Manuel Poga) and Calatrava (Julián Villagrán). The cast is completed by Nausicaa Bonnín and Pau Durà, who play the two Mossos agents in charge of the investigation of the case.

'Alice and Steve'
Disney+ / June 8
La protagonista d''Alice y Steve'

Just two months after its success at Canneseries, Alice and Steve can now be seen on our screens. At the series festival, this British dramedy won three awards: best series, the special acting award for the entire cast, and the students' award. The fiction analyzes how Alice and Steve's friendship deteriorates when the latter begins a romantic relationship with the daughter of his soulmate. Nicola Walker, known for , and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) play the protagonists.

'Every year after'
Prime Video / June 10
Els protagonistes d''Every year after'

In its race to become the go-to platform for young and romantic audiences, Prime Video adds a title that promises to delight teenagers and young adults. Every year after is a series centered on a first love, that of Percy and Sam, who spend their summers every year in Barry Bay, Canada. Years after a traumatic breakup, the two young people, now adults, will meet again at the scene where they fell in love.

'The Other Sister Bennet'
Movistar Plus+ / June 16
La protagonista de 'La otra hermana Bennet'

One of the most anticipated offerings for fans of period dramas, and not just. This BBC miniseries, which has been a genuine audience success in the United Kingdom, focuses on one of the most undervalued characters in Pride and Prejudice, Mary Bennet, the introverted sister of Elizabeth, Jane Austen's heroine. Based on a novel by Janice Hadlow, the fiction imagines Mary's life journey to find her own voice after years of being underestimated by her mother and those closest to her.

'House of the Dragon'
HBO Max / June 22
Matt Smith i Emma d'Arcy a 'La casa del dragón'

One of the highlights of this month will be the third season of House of the Dragon, even though the Game of Thrones brand doesn't sell as much as it used to. The war between Alicent and Rhaenyra, or, in other words, the civil war among the Targaryens, continues and will feature new additions, such as James Norton, who will play Lord Ormund Hightower, who will support the green faction.

'Millennial Mal'

Filmin / June 30

Filmin continues to expand its offer of own productions. This month it premieres this semi-university, semi-generational comedy starring Judith, a 42-year-old unemployed librarian who has to return to university to collect a scholarship granted to her due to a bureaucratic error. In order to hide her real age, Judith will undergo an image change devised by two twenty-year-old girls. The protagonist will get so into the role that she will come to believe her own lie.

The end of 'The Bear'

Although it has lost the aura of a phenomenon it had at its beginnings, The Bear can still be considered a benchmark series. The fiction starring Jeremy Allen White, who owes a good part of his burst of fame to this series, says goodbye to viewers this June with a fifth season in which Carmy leaves the restaurant industry and leaves the restaurant to his partners, who are faced with the challenge of obtaining a Michelin star.
