Barcelona The ARA proposes 10 outstanding Carnivals throughout the country for this weekend.
Carnival in Barcelona
Barcelona. From February 12 to 18
The Queen of the Little Married People returns, and Barcelona throws itself headlong into Carnival with the Arrival of Queen Belluga. The festivities kick off on Fat Thursday with festive activities, trout-fishing contests, and pork rind cake competitions. In the neighborhoods, residents organize parades, dances, concerts, and costume contests for all ages. On Ash Wednesday, the Burial of the Sardine will mark the end of Carnival and usher in Lent.
Sitges Carnival
Silos. From February 12 to 18
The Sitges Carnival returns for its 50th edition. The celebration offers a program full of festivities and diversity. Various organizations, groups, and the organizing committee have planned activities ranging from the presentation of the Carnival Queen and the arrival of King Carnival to the grand parades and the burial of the sardine. In addition, the 2026 Carnival group, Érem Pocs, will carry the King of the Festival on a platform powered by electric drums for sound and lighting.
Solsona Carnival
Solsona. From February 12 to 18
A new edition of the Solsona Carnival is here, one of the most renowned and visited carnivals in Catalonia. This festival, declared a National Tourist Interest event, offers unique activities characteristic of the Solsona celebration. With the colorful costumes of the carnival groups, the giant puppets, the hanging of the donkey, and the sermon, the Carnival Festival Association and the participating groups have filled the program with fun and entertainment for all ages.
Carnival of the Interior
Torellón. From January 31st to February 18th
The Terra Endins Carnival returns to Torelló, a celebration that draws approximately 25,000 people each year. Several associations and groups organize the event, which offers a wide range of activities, from the traditional parade and the Terra Endins Festival to the symbolic burial of the sardine on Wednesday.
Carnival of Vilanova i la Geltrú
Vilanova i la Geltrú. From February 12 to 18
Once again, Vilanova i la Geltrú celebrates its Carnival, a popular event with a large turnout. During its program, which includes a variety of activities ranging from satirical choirs and parades to communal meals, the festival encourages the neighborhood to take to the streets in costume and satirize the events that have taken place throughout the year.
Tarragona Carnival
Tarragona. From February 6 to 17
A new edition of the Tarragona Carnival is upon us with a program packed with iconic events and diverse festivities. During this celebration, renowned for its spectacular parades, more than 3,000 troupes will gather for the Crafts Parade on Saturday. Also noteworthy are Sunday's Parade of Distinction, featuring the 15 winning groups from the previous year, and the Golden Costume Gala, where the troupes showcase their creations.
Reus Carnival
Reus. From February 12 to 18
Every year, dozens of carnival groups parade through Reus during its Carnival Festival, a celebration featuring a procession of over 8,000 people dancing to the rhythm of Carnival. Its program, packed with traditional and cultural activities, offers days full of festivities and fun, from the Grand Carnival Parade to the grand confetti battle.
Sallent Carnival
Sallent. From February 12 to 18
The Sallent Carnival returns with a new edition full of music, costumes, parades, and festivities. Among the various activities for all ages, highlights include Saturday's costume ball, headlined by Els Catarres, and the show The substitutewith Pep Plaza.
Carnival of Roses
Roses. From February 12 to 16
The Roses Carnival is a massive celebration that surprises audiences every year with its floats, costumes, and choreography. It features three parades showcasing the culmination of months of preparation by the more than fifty groups that participate annually. The festivities conclude on Monday with a spectacular fireworks display.
Playa de Aro Carnival
Playa de Aro. From February 7th to 18th
Playa de Aro celebrates the 48th edition of its Carnival of Carnivals. The various groups combine local activities with participation in the parades of other towns. On Saturday, the Grand Carnival Parade will take place with floats and troupes, and on Sunday, the Local Groups' Parade will be held in Castell d'Aro. The celebration will conclude on Wednesday with the Burial of the Sardine.
