Five additional photographs capture the moment, two of which show Trump starting the call before handing the phone to his guest. The images of the meeting posted on the White House website—more than seventy in total—attest to the presence of several members of the Trump administration in the Oval Office. This includes Vice President JD Vance; Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth; and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

The Qatari prime minister, along with Egypt's intelligence chief, is precisely the one who sent the 20-point proposal on the future of Gaza to Hamas, which is now reviewing the document. The US president has given the Islamist group "three or four days" to respond. a plan that is intended as an ultimatum.

Most Arab and European countries have supported the content of the document, although it demands, among other things, the unconditional surrender of the Palestinian militias and the establishment of a foreign authority in Gaza led by Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
