BarcelonaA 14-year-old boy died and four other people were injured on Saturday afternoon after a man stabbed them in the street in the Austrian town of Villach, about 350 kilometers south of Vienna, near the border with Italy and Slovenia. The attacker is a 23-year-old man of Syrian nationality who had a residence permit and has been arrested. The police do not yet know the motives for the attack and are investigating whether the attacker acted alone or had an accomplice and also whether he had any relationship with the victims. According to the APA news agency, the man had no criminal record.

The attack occurred shortly before four in the afternoon in the street and in the center of the town of Villach. The youngest victim is a 14-year-old teenager, the oldest was thirty-two. A driver who witnessed the events ran over the attacker immediately after the attack, which made it easier for the police to arrest him. "A man randomly attacked pedestrians with a knife," police spokesman Rainer Dionisio said, according to AFP.
