WashingtonIran announces that it is reopening the Strait of Hormuz in response to the 10-day ceasefire mediated by the United States between Israel and Lebanon. "In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage of all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of the ceasefire, following the coordinated route as already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X.

Tehran has decided to consider the 10-day truce valid, even though Israel has continued bombing southern Lebanon. The unlocking of the strait also comes amid the military siege that Washington had initiated at the beginning of the week.
