BarcelonaYesterday, Vueling Airlines expelled a group of fifty French teenagers from a flight to Paris at Valencia Airport due to the group's poor behavior, which, according to the IAG subsidiary, jeopardized the integrity of the flight and the safety of passengers. The Catalan airline explains that this group adopted a "highly conflictive" attitude, tampering with emergency equipment and even actively interrupting the mandatory safety demonstration.

However, the airline's decision has generated controversy. The group of children, who were attending a summer camp, were Jewish, and associations representing this community, such as the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE), have reacted: they are calling for clarification of the events to determine whether there were possible discriminatory religious motives toward the minors.

The expulsion has even sparked a reaction from the Israeli government. Israeli Minister of Diaspora and Combating Antisemitism Amichai Chikli public yesterday a writing in X linking to a video where, he said, the group's leader appeared lying face down on the ground while a Civil Guard officer handcuffed him. "The woman who was arrested and beaten is the director of the Kinneret summer camp," the minister says, although the woman, according to Civil Guard sources consulted by Efe, was not arrested. These same sources indicate that the group of minors was causing such a commotion that the plane's pilot, alerted by the noise, had to leave the cockpit to warn them that if they did not change their behavior, he would have to evacuate them, as ultimately happened.

"The Vueling airline crew called Israel a terrorist state and forced the children off the plane; they are now in Valencia, waiting to return to France. According to Hamas's campaign of lies, repeated by Al Jazeera, Haaretz and others, we've seen numerous serious anti-Semitic incidents recently; this is one of the most serious," Chikli adds to X. He also says that the Jewish children on the plane were singing Hebrew songs, a factor also highlighted by the FCJE, saying that chanting and displays of euphoria on planes are not isolated incidents. "We believe that if these expressions were the cause of the incident, Vueling.

The Catalan airline categorically denies any claim linking its crew's decision to the religious expression of the passengers involved. "The decision was taken solely and exclusively to guarantee the safety of all passengers. At Vueling, we categorically reject any form of discrimination without exception," it said in a statement Thursday.
