They steal 6.3 billion dollars from the main cryptocurrency buying and selling platform

BarcelonaBinance, one of the main global cryptocurrency exchange platforms, has suffered a cyberattack with an estimated impact of 6.3 billion dollars. The company reported this Friday that it has managed to block about 3 billion of the affected assets and has temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while it investigates the unauthorized operations.

In a statement published on its website, Binance explained that initial investigations suggest that the attackers compromised an operations engineer's laptop and, through this device, accessed one of the platform's systems to execute unauthorized fund withdrawals. The company asserts that, for the moment, it has not found evidence that the private keys of its digital wallets have been leaked.
