BarcelonaIn Woody Allen He likes Donald Trump as an actor. The American filmmaker already featured Trump in the film Celebrity (1998) and has stated that he would like to direct him again: "If he would let me, I think I could do wonders," he said. Allen, who is 89 years old, explained this in the podcast Random Club, by comedian and presenter Bill Maher. Trump must have been amused, because he shared the news on his social network, Truth Social.

Allen said it was a pleasure working with Trump, who was then a business magnate. "He's a very good actor," he said. This isn't the only praise he paid him. "Trump was very polite and hit the nail on the head," he stated. According to Allen, he did everything "very well" and has "showbiz talent." Even so, the filmmaker wanted to clarify that in last November's elections he voted for US candidate Kamala Harris. In fact, he clarified that he disagrees with Trump on "99 percent" of the issues, but he insisted on his admiration for his acting talent. Among other qualities, he said he is "convincing" and "charismatic."

For the filmmaker, it's a mystery why Trump wanted to go into politics: "It's all headaches, critical decisions, and agony." Allen doesn't understand how a man he used to hang out with at Knicks games and who enjoyed playing golf and judging beauty pageants could want to govern a country and deal with political issues. Maher, in response to Allen's insistence on directing Trump in a film again, said he'd make a call.

The truth is that Trump, when he was solely involved in business, liked to make cameos. Critics don't share Allen's opinion. In the film Ghosts can't do it (1989), Trump negotiated harshly with the character played by actress Bo Derek, who was advised by the ghost of her husband (Anthony Quinn). This film earned the current US president a Razzie, the award recognizing the worst performances.
