Sijena's lawyer will file a lawsuit against Pepe Serra for slander and damage to his honor.

Jorge Español claims that the director of the MNAC mocked him when he told him he should go to the doctor.

BarcelonaThe lawyer for the Vilanova de Sijena City Council, Jorge Español, announced this Tuesday that he will file a lawsuit against the director of the MNAC. Pepe SerraThe lawyer is referring to statements made by Serra at a press conference on Monday, in which he questioned the lawyer's qualifications. Serra had requested the suspension of a listening session for Rosalía's new album at the Oval Room, citing concerns about potential damage to the paintings, without any prior assessment of their condition before they could be moved. According to media present, Serra said: "What's unacceptable is considering that a Rosalía concert could affect the paintings and that squeezing them into 74 pieces is easily done. Whoever says this should see a doctor."

Español maintains that at no point during the process did he refer to the possibility of "cutting" or "sawing" the paintings into pieces, and that he believes the director of the MNAC is engaging in "mockery" or "discrediting" him by suggesting he should consult a doctor, "clearly alluding to a psychiatrist." Therefore, Español announces that he will file a criminal lawsuit for defamation against Serra, from whom he will demand, he emphasized, "substantial compensation."

The appraisal of the Sijena murals

The Huesca court responsible for enforcing the sentence issued a decree this week giving the MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia) five days to submit an appraisal of the disputed paintings, and another five days to submit the specifications with the technical requirements for bidding on the work of removing, packing, transporting, and unpacking the paintings. The museum is also required to proceed with the immediate return of the secular paintings, whose return does not present the same technical difficulties as the religious paintings in the monastery's chapter house, according to experts. Should the museum fail to return them, the court will require it to explain the reason preventing it.
