BarcelonaThe Symphonic Cycle at the Palau, co-produced by the Vallès Symphony Orchestra (OSV) and the Orfeó Català Foundation - Palau de la Música Catalana, celebrates its 30th edition in a season that will open on September 20: it will be with a concert conducted by Andrés Salado, who makes his debut as principal conductor of the OSV with The Pathetic of Tchaikovsky and the Latest songs by Strauss. The opening concert will feature German soprano Julia Kleiter as a guest voice and will also include music by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz. In total, the series will offer 21 programs and 24 concerts until May 2026, with two world premieres and a wide range of styles, from the great symphonic repertoire to opera, zarzuela, film, pop-rock, choral music and Baroque.

Among the highlights of the season are violinist Arabella Steinbacher, cellist Camille Thomas, trumpeter Pacho Flores, pianist Artem Kuznetsov and composer and performer Carlos Marigó, in addition to the choral ensembles of the Orfeó Català, the Orfeó Català, and the Cor de Teatre. The season includes emblematic titles such as Solemn Mass by Beethoven and Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov, and singular productions such as Tribute to Morricone and Rota, Horror cinema or the return of symphonic pop-rock. In the operatic field, there will be The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, Rule by Bellini, La traviata by Verdi and, for the first time within the cycle, The Flying Dutchman Wagner's.

Last season brought together 32,086 spectators, with an average occupancy of 82% and four sold-out concerts. These figures confirm the consolidation of the project. This new season features new directors, with Andrés Salado as concert director, taking over from Xavier Puig, who will continue to be involved with the group as resident conductor, while Isabel Rubio joins as associate director.

To commemorate the three decades, the project will also open a dialogue with other disciplines. Writers such as Xavier Bosch, Gemma Ventura, Carlos Zanón, Raül Garrigasait, and Sílvia Pujalte will contribute stories inspired by some of the programmed works. The aim is to strengthen the link between music and literature and continue expanding the series' formats. The closing concert, on May 30, 2026, will be dedicated to The planets by Holst and will premiere the Concerto for piano and orchestra by Carles Marigó, commissioned by the OSV and the Palau de la Música Catalana.

The OSV orchestra will also undertake several tours, such as the Waltzes and Dances Festival, which will visit ten Catalan cities, and the Easter Tour, with the project A passion for cinema, which can be seen in six locations. The tours will take the orchestra to cities such as Lleida, Terrassa, Girona, Reus, Sabadell, Manresa, and Tarragona, thus extending the celebration of the 30th edition beyond Barcelona.
