The Music Academy also awards Montserrat Torrent, Lluc Casares, Momi Maiga and the Company Elèctrica Dharma

BarcelonaSaxophonist Irene Reig, composer Antoni Ros Marbà, choral singer Momi Maiga, and the duo Alosa are some of the recipients in the seventh edition of the Alícia Awards granted by the Catalan Academy of Music. At the gala held this Thursday at L'Auditori de Barcelona, the lifetime achievement award was also presented to organist Montserrat Torrent, who has just turned 100 years old.

Irene Reig won the authorship award for the magnificent album Ànima (2025), a synthesis of jazz, classical, and roots music that certifies the Barcelona saxophonist's status in the country's jazz scene. Benjamin a Portbou, which the composer from L'Hospitalet de Llobregat premiered at the Liceu, with stage direction by Anna Ponces. The Alícia for best live performance went to the concert Llibre Vermell. Sons del passat a ritme del present, by Companyia Elèctrica Dharma, Coral Sant Medir, La Caravaggia, and Esbart Ciutat Comtal. The award for record production went to Big Band vol. 1, by Lluc Casares, in which the Barcelona saxophonist explores the format of big band. The duo Alosa, who debuted last year blending roots and pop spirit with the album El primer cant del matí, was rewarded with the Alícia for emerging talent.

The list of awardees was completed by the internationalization award for the Music Schools (ACEM), for the organization of the 15th edition of RITMIKS Festival of Young European Musicians; the Alícia for journalism and music dissemination, which was taken by the program Tots els matins del món

, from Catalunya Música, for "the continued work of disseminating classical and contemporary music with a close and accessible language"; and the award for social and educational project, which went to the Xarxa de Cases de la Música (Network of Music Houses), "in recognition of two decades of work promoting training, creation, and access to music in different territories, as well as the generation of new spaces for cultural participation".
