Besides mastering dialogue and plots, Jordi Casanovas always has an ace up his sleeve

- Villarroel. Until February 1st
Jordi Casanovas's theatre moves between the many facets of human comedy and the commitment of political drama about the most immediate reality. With Gothenburg the author of Pack, Ruz-Bárcenas, A set menu, Idiot either Vilafranca It ventures into romantic comedy. It does so with a bittersweet story about the sudden reunion of a mature couple 30 years after their graduation trip to Gothenburg with their high school classmates. Something was born between them there. Paula (Maria MolinsShe has recovered an old diary from her adolescence, spurred by the desire to uncover what really happened between them. To clarify things, she unexpectedly shows up at Sergi's (Roger Coma) house. Thus begins a dialogue, almost an interrogation, during which their understanding of each other's love emerges. It even becomes clear that, while the past cannot be changed, perhaps the memory of that past can be modified, even if nothing else changes.
But what really happened? And what were that Depeche Mode-loving girl and that introspective, mischievous boy like 30 years ago? Besides mastering dialogue and plot, Casanovas always has an ace up her sleeve. To find out, the show embarks on a journey into the past, skillfully combining the dialogue of the adults with that of the young people (Berta Rabascall and Jan Mediavilla).
In a functional stage space (the central stage of La Villarroel influences both the plays and the sets), the four performers play their roles with emotion. Maria Molins' Paula retains a touch of youthful sparkle in her attitude and movement. And Berta Rabascall's young Paula perfectly captures the energy and zest for life. Roger Coma plays the sparring partner role, well-suited to the sacrifices of the character that Jan Mediavilla's young Sergi defines very well, despite a certain exaggeration.
