Surprise love story at the cinema: Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and Maxi Iglesias, together
According to the magazine 'Lecturas', the actors, who are 22 years apart, would have started a relationship
BarcelonaSurprise couple in Spanish cinema. According to Lecturas on this week's cover, actress Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, 57, and actor Maxi Iglesias, 35, have reportedly started a romantic relationship. This would be confirmed by the cover photograph of the magazine in which both appear kissing. The acting couple have known each other for a long time because they met on the series Velvet.
Sánchez-Gijón has just premiered as an actress in Pedro Almodóvar's latest film, Amarga Navidad. For his part, Maxi Iglesias has five projects in the pipeline. The actor became known with the youth series Física o química and one of his recent most successful works has been the series Valeria, starring Diana Gómez.
According to the magazine Lecturas, in the photo report included in its latest issue, "chemistry and love between the two actors can be seen during various dates on different days." One of the dates, they add, was "sealed with a passionate kiss." Sánchez-Gijón is performing the play Malquerida in Madrid and Maxi Iglesias went to see one of the performances and waited for her outside.
In 2023, the actress revealed that she had separated three years prior from her partner of over two decades, the Argentine painter Guillermo Papin Luccadane. After three years together and a son in common, Teo, the couple married in 2002. Later, they had a daughter named Bruna. In an interview published in El País, the actress admitted that she had struggled to overcome the breakup. "I separated three years ago, my eldest son moved out two years ago, at 20. I'm still nesting. I haven't yet completed the grief that a separation entails after 22 years of relationship, however amicable the breakup may have been. I thought grief was shorter and easier," she confessed.
For his part, Iglesias has had several well-known partners. He was first with Peruvian actress Stephanie Cayo, whom he met on the set of the film Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar. Once that relationship ended, he fell in love with Ione Astondoa, director of the Astilleros Astondoa group, which is dedicated to the construction of luxury boats.
