Toyota presents the new RAV4, the benchmark hybrid SUV
The new compact SUV debuts its sixth generation with more technology and mechanical options than ever before.
The sixth generation of the RAV4 is here. Toyota has updated its flagship SUV, a model that has become the benchmark in the hybrid SUV segment worldwide, with conventional hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions and a stylish and powerful design.
The task of improving and updating the RAV4's aesthetic presence was truly complex, as its image was already well-established across five continents and, despite the passage of time, showed no signs of fatigue or aging. However, Toyota has debuted a new design language called Hammerhead, which includes new, stylized LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a more powerful and rounded body than the outgoing model, and the option of two-tone paint finishes, among other features.
Equally important has been the soundproofing of the model, with reinforcements to the roof, doors, and passenger compartment to create a greater sense of quality and comfort for the driver and other occupants. Until now, the RAV4, like most SUVs in its segment, has been somewhat noisier and vibrates more than electric vehicles, a difference that the Japanese brand has been gradually reducing with this specific tuning.
The other strong point of the new RAV4 is its technological and digital enhancements, featuring a new 12.9-inch central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, wireless phone chargers, and USB-C ports. Most importantly, it boasts a new infotainment platform called Arene, which improves vehicle connectivity and safety thanks to its integration with the new Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 system. This system anticipates risks and adapts braking and steering to potential hazards and the vehicle's specific needs.
Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions
The new RAV4 also includes two conventional hybrid (HEV) versions with the Advance and Spirit trims, both with front-wheel drive and a starting price of €43,500. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, meanwhile, comes in four different versions: Advance, Spirit, GR Sport, and Limited, with front-wheel drive (268 hp) or all-wheel drive (304 hp) options and 22.7 kWh batteries that provide an electric range of 100 km.
In fact, the most powerful and longest-range version is the GR Sport trim level, which includes 20-inch wheels, specific details in the interior upholstery, and widened axles that provide greater stability to the vehicle even in adverse weather conditions or on mountain roads, with a final sale price.
