The week of appointments was dominated by Indra, which has a new head of business in Catalonia, and also by the CNMC, which has appointed a new general secretary. Blanca Sorigué, the general director of the CZFB, was also re-elected vice president of the World Association of Free Trade Zones, and BBVA hired its new head of investment banking in Colombia at Santander.

Indra Group has strengthened its management team in Catalonia with the appointment of Anna Ortí as its new regional leader. With more than 13 years with the company and two decades of experience in the public sector, Ortí has extensive experience in the institutional environment and in the modernization, digitalization, and management of public administrations.

She has spent the last 13 years of her career at Indra Group, where, as head of the public administration department at Minsait, she has led strategic transformation projects in Catalonia. Ortí holds a degree in computer engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and complemented her training with a master's degree in public management from Esade. She has also participated in Esade's Public-Private Partnership Program and the SEPI Foundation's Senior Business Management Program. She has also served as a professor of information systems in organizations at Esade.

Teresa Hernández Guerra, new general secretary of the CNMC

The plenary session of the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), at the proposal of its president, Cani Fernández, has approved the appointment of Teresa Hernández Guerra as the new general secretary of the CNMC, replacing José Manuel Bernabé Sánchez, who vacated the position on September 1 to become director.

Teresa Hernández holds a law degree from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a master's degree in European Union law from the Carlos III University of Madrid, as well as a master's degree in leadership and public management from the National Institute of Public Administration. She also belongs to both the Higher Corps of General Administrators of the Canary Islands government and the Higher Corps of Civil Administrators of the State. During her professional career, she was Deputy Director of Public Procurement Coordination for Canal Isabel II and an advisory member of the cabinet of the Minister of Finance. She has also worked at the Directorate-General for the Environment (DG-ENV) of the European Commission and has served as a technical advisor at the Ministries of Defense, Economy, and Finance, and as head of the public procurement section at the Canary Islands government, among other positions.

Blanca Sorigué, re-elected vice president of the World Association of Free Trade Zones

The general director of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB), Blanca Sorigué, has been re-elected as vice president of the World Association of Free Zones, a position she has held since May 2023. Mohamed Alzarooni, meanwhile, will remain the association's global president. The decision was made within the framework of the 11th edition of the World Congress of Free Zones, organized by the World Free Zones Organization (WFZO) from October 10 to 12 at the Hainan International Conference and Exhibition Center in Haikou, China, where the WFZO general assembly, which was the core of the WFZO, was also held.

Sorigué (Pobla de Segur, 1973) has been the general manager of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB) since 2018. She has held the position for seven years, has been active in the industrial world for over 20 years, and at the age of 30 was already leading the Logistics Exhibition (SIL).

BBVA hires its new head of corporate banking in Colombia at Santander.

BBVA has appointed Catalina Laurens, from Banco Santander, as the new head of its corporate and investment banking (CIB) in Colombia, the bank announced in a statement. Laurens replaces Carlos Alberto Rodríguez, who left the bank at the end of August after seven years to pursue new professional challenges.

With over two decades of experience in the financial sector, Laurens has held leadership positions at institutions such as Banco Santander, where she was head of CIB Colombia, and other senior roles at HSBC and Citibank Colombia.

EMSA Tecnología Química appoints Patricia Elvira as its new CEO.

After more than 30 years at the helm of the company, Jorge Grima, founder and until now CEO of EMSA Tecnología Química, is handing over the reins as general manager to Patricia Elvira, currently the corporate director. Grima will remain involved with the company as chairman of the board of directors.

Patricia Elvira began her career in the technical department 18 years ago and, since then, has assumed responsibilities in various areas until establishing herself as "one of the key figures in corporate strategy," according to the company's statement. Elvira holds a degree in chemistry from the University of Barcelona and a postgraduate degree in integrated business management from the UPC. She also participated in the Management Development Program (PDD) at Iese Business School.
