Antoni Bassas' analysis: 'Of course he's against Catalonia'

Of course he's against Catalans; against all of them, the separatists and those who vote for you, those who have to take trains every day that don't run or who have to go on waiting lists for public healthcare. Yes, he's against Catalans. And against the Catalan language. He thrives on being against. When someone feels the need to say "We're not against Catalonia," he's only revealing his own shortcomings.

The week has started terribly. At the time we spoke to you, The death toll from last night's train accident in Adamuz rises to 39.In the province of Córdoba, there are 150 injured, some in critical condition. According to the official version, an Iryo train traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed, crossed onto the adjacent continuous track, and caused an Alvia train traveling from Madrid to Huelva to derail. Two carriages of this Alvia train, carrying about fifty people, were thrown from the train and fell down a 4-meter embankment.

Minister Puente said the accident was very unusual. Because the section of track where the accident occurred was renovated in May, this shifts the burden of proof onto Iryo, a private high-speed rail company that also operates the Barcelona-Madrid route. Due to the accident, Sánchez and Feijóo suspended their meeting scheduled for this morning at Moncloa Palace.

While, We are awaiting President Salvador Illa's diagnosis. His life is not at risk, but the health problem is significant, as evidenced by the fact that they wanted to move him to a regular ward today, but he will remain in the ICU for another 24 hours, where he spent the night with his pain under control and without any further complications. The president has weakness in some of his leg muscles, apparently due to inflammation. He has no tumor, it wasn't a stroke, but he can't walk normally, and we still don't have a definitive diagnosis regarding the cause of the pain. It seems it could be inflammation caused by an infection in the lower back, for which Isla is already taking antibiotics.

Last night, doctors said he would be hospitalized for fifteen days to undergo intensive rehabilitation.

Last night the president tweeted X"I'm feeling well and in good spirits. I have a few days of tests and recovery ahead of me. I want to thank all the healthcare staff at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital for their care and great professionalism. Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me messages of support." The Minister of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau, has assumed the president's representation and duties.

So that's how we've started the week. And with words that, just because they're the same old ones, are still newsworthy.

Feijóo gave a rally in Zaragoza yesterday. (There are elections in Aragon in three weeks) with all the PP regional presidents, basically to renew their promise that they will not accept the billions they would be entitled to under the financing agreement between the Spanish government and Esquerra Republicana. A perfect scenario for Feijóo to say:

"We are not against Catalonia, but in favor of the Catalans." Mr. Feijóo, of course you are against the Catalans; against all of them, the separatists and those who vote for you, those who have to take trains every day that don't run or who have to go on a waiting list for public healthcare. Yes, you are against the Catalans. And against the Catalan language. You thrive on being against. It's a fundamental part of Spanish identity. Don't confuse liking bread with tomato or the Sagrada Família or having relatives in Catalonia with being in favor of Catalonia. When someone feels the need to say "We are not against Catalonia," they are revealing their own shortcomings.

Good morning.
