Without respite, awaiting new fronts next week

Window of good weather in the morning, with new downpours in the afternoon

24/01/2026

BarcelonaThe snowfall has left significant accumulations in regions that don't usually see so much snow. The cold air mass associated with a low-pressure system has lowered the snow level to 300 meters. There have been isolated snowfalls near the coast, such as on Tibidabo. However, the greatest accumulations have been in regions like Moianès, Segarra, and Berguedà (between 10 and 15 cm). Montsant has also seen accumulations of around 15 cm (Prades). Further data on accumulated snowfall has been added at the end of this report.

The strong winds following the passage of the front have brought gusts of up to 106 km/h in the Camp de Tarragona region and up to 90 km/h in the Alt Penedès. Meteocat has issued a warning for strong gusts until tomorrow morning.

Sunday: a brief respite in the morning, awaiting a new front

We'll start the day with calm, mostly sunny weather, but windy in the southern half of the region, in the northern Empordà, and at higher elevations, where some gusts of westerly and northwesterly winds will still be noticeable. It will be a day of transition, with low clouds and some fog in the Vic plain, but with plenty of clear skies. However, the sky will change around midday with the arrival of high clouds from the west that will eventually cover the sky. Temperatures will rise slightly, especially along the coast, with highs around 16°C. The weather will change in the afternoon, as a new front approaches, bringing snowfall back to the Pyrenees of Lleida and wind to many areas. More showers are also expected in western areas, the Pre-Pyrenees, and nearby regions. The snow level will hover around 800 meters in the morning and rise to 1,000 meters during the afternoon.

He won't clean up next week.

Medium-range forecasts indicate that the weather will remain very changeable and unsettled next week due to the passage of new Atlantic fronts. Therefore, the sky will be very changeable: there will be more showers, strong winds, and a rollercoaster of temperatures. The most challenging day will be Tuesday, when a more active front will bring rain across the region. The warmer part of the disturbance will raise the snow level to 2,000 meters.
