The weather

The wind will lose strength and the sun will eventually prevail almost everywhere.

Cloud cover will remain abundant along the central coast

BarcelonaThe weekend was generally quite calm, with temperatures generally well above average for All Saints' Day, but which normalized somewhat at the start of the week. However, the weekend ended with some locally heavy downpours due to the downdraft along the central coast, which brought more than 10 liters per square meter to Badalona (Barcelonès) and Cabrils (Maresme), a situation that will be repeated in the early hours of Monday. The weather will remain calm in the rest of the country, with a change in the weather pattern expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

Monday: colder weather and wind at both ends

This Monday, the sky will remain mostly clear, except for the central coast and the southern Costa Brava. The downdraft generated by the Tramontana wind will bring dense clouds from the Mediterranean, and some showers are possible off the coast, potentially reaching the shoreline during the morning. This has prompted a warning for heavy rain until midday in the Barcelona region. The rest of the territory will remain clear or with only a few thin clouds. The cool nighttime conditions inland will generate mist and radiation fog, which will appear in the plains of Ponent and Central Catalonia, as well as in some pre-Pyrenean valleys. Maximum temperatures will be somewhat subdued, with values not exceeding 20°C in many areas, far from the values of last weekend. Temperatures in the Ponent region will remain around 17°C, and in the Pyrenean valleys they will not exceed 15°C, after a much colder night.

Tuesday: More clouds

The weather will be considerably calmer on the first Tuesday of November, with temperatures poised to rise slightly across the country, though more noticeably in the Pyrenees. High clouds will appear around midday, but low clouds will already be present along the southern coast by morning, along with some fog in the central part of the country. A southerly wind will become widespread, potentially gusting to over 40 or 50 km/h in the Empordà region and some inland areas of the Ebro Valley during the afternoon.

More active front ahead of Thursday

Medium-term forecasts indicate the arrival of a more active weather system that will cover the entire region by Wednesday. This front will be accompanied by cold air aloft, causing precipitation to intensify and initially fall in the western and southern parts of the country during the early hours of Thursday, eventually sweeping across the rest of the region. Locally, moderate to heavy showers are possible, with significant accumulations. We will continue to monitor the weather models to see how this plays out.
