Will it rain during Easter? Here's what the maps say.

This time of year is usually marked by variability and changeable weather.

13/03/2026

BarcelonaAfter the wettest winter in the last thirty years, there's a real desire to make plans outdoors this spring. And many people already have their sights set on the Easter holidays to get away, go on excursions, enjoy nature, or go out with friends and family. Therefore, the question is inevitable: what will the weather be like this Easter? Will it rain or not? At times like these, the weather takes on great importance, because many people make plans based on the forecast.

Obviously, there are still many days left in Easter, and the forecasts so far aren't very reliable. But it's important to keep in mind that at the end of March and the beginning of April we're fully into spring, a season that officially arrives on Friday, March 20th, and which always brings a lot of variability and a bit of everything. In fact, it's one of the rainiest seasons of the year. Therefore, with so many holidays, the probability of seeing rain at some point is statistically high at this time of year.

What do the maps say, for now?

According to long-term weather maps, everything seems to indicate that by the end of the month and the beginning of April we will be experiencing typical spring weather patterns, with a nearby but not strong enough anticyclone. This will allow the passage of some Atlantic fronts, which will increase instability on some days and cause several rises and falls in temperature. But let's take it one step at a time. For now, the first official Easter weekend, Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of March (Palm Sunday), appears to be marked by fairly calm weather. Calm conditions will prevail on the coast, while in the Pyrenees and other mountain areas, afternoon cloud cover is more likely to develop, bringing some showers. Middays will be very pleasant. From March 30th onwards, the variability will continue, with a risk of some light precipitation. Looking ahead to the key days of Holy Week – from Good Friday to Easter Monday – the weather maps indicate that, for now, we should expect much calmer and more pleasant weather across the country, with very mild temperatures and a touch of warmth at midday. Maximum temperatures will easily exceed 20°C in the warmest areas of the country.

This forecast is sure to change, as there are still many days to go. In the last two years, Holy Week has had changeable weather with a bit of everything. In both 2024 and 2025, we had periods of great calm and sunshine, but also showers and storms, and snow in the Pyrenees. Therefore, it is most likely that this year we will have a similar situation, as this is typical for this time of year. All of this should be updated and monitored closely.
