Unsafe weather weekend and less warm conditions
Showers and some thunderstorms in Camp de Tarragona and Ebro
The weather has been fully spring-like for days, with scattered showers and thunderstorms and a temperature much higher than normal, as demonstrated by our closing the warmest April since records began in our country. This weekend will not change this trend and the weather will remain very changeable with new irregular downpours in some areas, although far from everywhere. A typically spring unstable situation that will also continue next week, with temperatures that will gradually decrease and normalize, although still with thermal mildness during the central hours of the day.
Saturday: rain in the south and some showers
On Saturday, instability will be concentrated mainly in the western half and in the Pyrenees, especially in the western sector. During the first part of the day, showers may fall in the regions of Tarragona, Lleida, southern Barcelona, and the Valencian Country, and as the hours pass – especially in the afternoon – the showers will become concentrated in the Pyrenees, pre-Pyrenees, and nearby areas, with occasional thunderstorms. More clear skies and calm between Girona and Barcelona. During the early morning, it has rained more heavily in Terres de l'Ebre and Camp de Tarragona, with some local downpours. At the beginning of the day, they have already accumulated 40 l/m2 in Miami Platja, 11 in Riudecanyes, 7 l/m2 in Tarragona, 7 l/m2 in Benissanet and 1 l/m2 in El Montmell. The maximum temperature will drop slightly, although it will still exceed 23 °C in many places.
In this regard, Meteocat has issued a warning for rain intensity in half an hour affecting the regions of Baix Ebre, Montsià, Ribera d'Ebre, Priorat, Tarragonès, and Baix Camp, in effect until early afternoon.
Sunday: more scattered showers
The weather will remain unsettled, with a risk of irregular showers and storms, especially in the afternoon in parts of the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees, prelitoral, and the Ports. Elsewhere, the sky will remain changeable, with the possibility of some weak and local drops or drizzle, but with generally abundant cloud cover. This instability will be maintained thanks to the presence of a small upper-air cold pocket that will feed the growth of clouds and will be the cause of a Monday with more widespread rain, as rain could fall in any region at the beginning of the week.
