The weather will show signs of change starting today and especially in the coming days.
Between the weekend and the beginning of next week, the weather will be more unsettled.
BarcelonaThe anticyclone will gradually weaken over the next few days, although we will remain under its influence. It will retreat further towards central Europe, bringing stronger maritime winds and more moisture to our country. A low-pressure system—named Emilia—will also be present between the western Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, indirectly intensifying this maritime flow in our Mediterranean region. Therefore, this Friday will see abundant cloud cover for much of the day in more areas, with even some drizzle along the coast. This is a minor development, but we expect increased precipitation in the Valencian Community over the weekend, with maximum temperatures more typical for this time of year. However, the Pyrenees will continue to enjoy plenty of sunshine. Next week could be significantly more eventful.
Friday: more clouds and some drizzle
We wake up again to lots of low clouds and fog inland, in the pre-coastal areas, and along the coast. These clouds will remain quite prevalent along the coast and pre-coastal areas throughout the day. The heaviest cloud cover is expected from the Camp de Tarragona southward. In fact, a few light showers are possible along coastal stretches such as the Ebro River, the Valencian Community, and the Costa Brava. This will contrast sharply with the radiant sunshine expected in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees all day. Minimum temperatures have risen along the coast, pre-coastal areas, and the Central Depression due to the cloud cover. In contrast, the rest of the region will wake up to colder temperatures, with frost expected, especially in the valleys of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. Notable lows include -6°C in Das (Cerdanya) and -5°C in Guixers-Valls (Solsonès). Maximum temperatures will be slightly lower but fairly normal for this time of year. Many areas will see highs between 11°C and 16°C, with rather cool daytime temperatures.
Weekend pending changes
Both Saturday and Sunday will see very high humidity, with low clouds and fog prevalent in many areas, especially along the coast and pre-coastal regions. However, the sun will continue to shine brightly in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, where the most pleasant and enjoyable weather of the weekend is expected. Some light rain is possible along the Catalan coast and in the Balearic Islands, but the heaviest rainfall will be concentrated in the Valencian Community, particularly from Sunday onwards. A maritime flow driven by a pocket of cold air further south will then fully affect the southeastern Iberian Peninsula.
Current weather maps indicate that this maritime instability could move into Catalonia early next week, bringing rain to many areas and snow to the southern slopes of the Pyrenees. This situation remains highly uncertain and will need to be confirmed. Temperatures are expected to return to normal for this time of year.
