The next weather change will arrive over the weekend
Milder afternoons on Friday and Saturday with fairly calm weather, awaiting a new front on Sunday
BarcelonaToday we woke up to very cold weather again, so bundle up before leaving home. It's a harsh winter morning with frost in many areas, including some coastal stretches. For example, temperatures reached -5°C in Palafrugell and -2°C in Sant Pere Pescador (Baix and Alt Empordà). The lowest minimum temperatures last night included almost -8°C in Das (Cerdanya), -7°C in Guixers-Valls (Solsonès), -6°C in Prades (Baix Camp) and Sant Pau de Segúries (Ripollès), and -5°C in the city of Girona and Forn. In contrast, the mercury has risen considerably in the high mountains, and although it's still cold, we're no longer seeing temperatures as low as -10°C as yesterday. This is because the polar air mass is moving away, which will make middays milder. Between today and tomorrow, the maximum temperatures will gradually rise, although the nights will remain cold. Calm and sunny weather will prevail, but on Sunday a new active cold front will arrive, bringing more snow to the Pyrenees, colder temperatures, and rain to several regions.
Friday: calm and thermal contrast
Sunshine and calm will be the main features of this Friday. It will be a pleasant day to enjoy, although bands of high, thin clouds may drift across the sky. There is also some morning fog or low cloud in the inland plains and valleys, as well as along the pre-coastal area, and overcast skies on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees, which at most may produce a few light showers. Overall, it will be a calm day, with a northerly wind that will only be light to moderate in the Ebro Valley, the northern Alt Empordà region, and on the Pyrenean peaks.
A cold, wintry morning with frequent frosts is expected, although minimum temperatures have risen in inland areas and especially in the higher elevations of the Pyrenees. Maximum temperatures will also rise, with milder conditions in the middle of the day. Many temperatures will hover around 13°C.and 18°C, lower in mountainous areas. The temperature contrast between day and night will be more pronounced.
A weekend of ups and downs
The last weekend of November will begin with another pleasant and calm Saturday. The morning will be sunny with some thin clouds, but cloud cover will increase from the afternoon onwards, especially in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. However, no precipitation is expected, with slightly higher minimum temperatures and similar maximum temperatures. The southerly wind will temporarily strengthen.
All of this will be the prelude to a cold front that will cross us on Sunday and bring further changes. The last day of the weekend will be marked by another snowfall in the Pyrenees, although the snow level will not drop below 1,100 or 1,200 meters. Therefore, it will not snow at such low elevations as in the last two episodes. Showers will also arrive in several regions, and temperatures will drop and it will get colder, with mistral and tramontana winds picking up again in the extremes.
