Storms in more counties to start a suffocating new week
The temperatures will remain very high, both during the day and at night
BarcelonaA weekend marked by intense heat and humidity, but also by afternoon thunderstorms that have been strong in parts of the Pyrenees, pre-Pyrenees, Ebro, and northeast, is coming to an end. A situation that will repeat this Monday, with showers and thunderstorms that will gain ground in the afternoon in the western half of the country. Where it rains heavily, the atmosphere suddenly cools. But we are talking about exceptions, as this new week will once again be marked by heat, warm nights, and values clearly above average. An episode that will last for many days.
Monday: very hot and more storms
The first full week of August will begin with sunshine combined again with some bands of high and medium clouds, as well as low clouds in parts of the coast and pre-coast, especially from the Ebre and Camp de Tarragona.
In the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will repeat in the Pyrenees, pre-Pyrenees, and the Ports area. The novelty will be that they will also arrive from Aragon to the western regions (comarques de Ponent), and could even approach the west of Central Catalonia. Locally they will be strong and may be accompanied by hail, sleet, or strong winds. For this reason, Meteocat is extending alerts for intense rain to more regions in all these areas.
Downpours will be accompanied by mud and will also cause a sudden drop in temperature. In fact, highs will drop slightly in the interior and north of the country. But the general trend will continue to be very hot and muggy, with highs of 33 to 38 ºC on the pre-littoral and inland, and very heavy conditions on the coast and pre-littoral due to high humidity. The night will also be warm in many places, and Meteocat maintains the alert for nocturnal heat in parts of Ponent and the coast and pre-littoral of the southern half.
No major changes in sight
Throughout the week, afternoon showers and thunderstorms will continue to occur, especially in the north and west of the territory. Therefore, the rain will be watering these areas irregularly. But the truth is that no significant weather change is expected that would bring widespread precipitation or showers.
Furthermore, temperatures will continue to be sky-high and well above average, with only a few ups and downs. There is no clear end in sight to this episode of intense heat that has been affecting us for days. We will have to be patient, because the atmosphere will be suffocating and very muggy, with sleepless nights in several regions.
