Start of the week with a heat peak before a new change of weather
The peak of this new heat episode will arrive between Monday and Tuesday
BarcelonaWe are leaving behind a very stable weekend, with the sun in almost absolute control and temperatures that have risen progressively, both at dawn and during the central hours of the day, with controlled but more intense heat than in previous days. In fact, yesterday temperatures already brushed 35 °C in Ponent and inside the Ebro valley. A situation that will be repeated at the beginning of this week. Between today and tomorrow there will be a transient peak of heat, with maximums between 34 °C and 37 °C in the warmest areas of the interior. But all of this will be short-lived, as from Wednesday a new change in the weather will arrive that will bring more showers and a new clear drop in thermometers.
Monday: more heat
The week begins with calm and sunny weather in general, and thermometers will rise today with more vigor. After a generally cool night with only some local tropical minimums in coastal stretches -mostly in the city of Barcelona-, this Monday the heat will be more marked in the middle of the day. Some maximums will locally already reach 34 °C or 35 °C in the usually warmer areas, especially in Ponent or the interior of the Ebro valley. Summer heat and more intense than it should be for these dates, but without extremes.
Tuesday: sunny spells
The anticyclone will maintain its dominance over our region and the temperature will peak, with a warm environment above the climatic average for mid-September, although far from the very high values of previous days. Maximums will approach or exceed 35 °C in Ponent, the Ebro valley, and the Girona regions, with sunny skies everywhere. In addition, there will be tropical minimums on the coast, while in the rest of the area the environment will remain rather cool, or slightly mild the closer we are to the sea. A local torrid minimum cannot be ruled out in the city center of Barcelona. If this were to happen, it would be the latest recorded since data has been kept, as the current record is from September 14, 2021.
Wednesday: showers in the eastern half
The passage of a cold front, with associated cold air at high altitude, will once again cause an episode of showers and thunderstorms in the regions of the northern and eastern half of the country. Meteorological models do not yet allow us to know where it will rain the most, but it seems clear that there will be locally intense showers, concentrated in the regions of Girona and Barcelona and also in the Pre-Pyrenees. The rain will be accompanied by a new drop in temperature and a cooler environment everywhere that will intensify in the following days. Therefore, temperatures will experience a real roller coaster this week, a classic situation of the transition between summer and autumn.
