Start of the week with sun and heat before a new round of showers
The peak of this new heat episode will arrive between Monday and Tuesday
BarcelonaThe weather has remained very stable this weekend, with an almost absolute dominance of the sun and a temperature that has risen progressively, both at dawn and during the central hours of the day, with controlled but more intense heat than in previous days. In fact, temperatures have already reached 35 °C in the West and in the interior of the Ebro valley, a situation that will repeat and intensify between Monday and Tuesday, with some maximums of 34 °C to 37 °C.
Monday: warmer
The week will begin with calm and sunny weather and thermometers will rise more eagerly. It will be noticeably hotter in the middle of the day and some maximums will locally reach 34 °C or 35 °C in the usual areas, such as Ponent or the interior of the Ebro valley. Controlled heat, with a minimum temperature that will also rise clearly and which will be tropical in many points of the coast. The cool morning atmosphere will, therefore, be restricted to the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees, where it will still be necessary to dress warmly during the night and at dawn.
Tuesday: sunny spells
The anticyclone will maintain its dominance over our region and temperatures will peak, with a warm atmosphere above the mid-September climatic average, although far from the values of a few days ago. Maximums will approach or exceed 35 °C in Ponent, the Ebro valley, and the Girona regions, with sunny skies everywhere. Furthermore, there will be tropical minimums on the coast, without ruling out a sweltering one on the central coast. If a new sweltering minimum were recorded in Barcelona, it would be the latest on record since data has been kept, as the current record is from September 14, 2021.
Wednesday: showers in the eastern half
The passage of a cold front, with associated cold air at high altitude, will once again cause an episode of showers and storms in the counties of the northern and eastern half of the country. Meteorological models still do not allow us to know where it will rain the most, but it seems clear that there will be locally intense showers, concentrated in the counties of Girona and Barcelona and also in the western Pre-Pyrenees. The rain will be accompanied by a new drop in temperatures and a cooler atmosphere everywhere.
