Snow in the Pyrenees of Lleida and clouds in the rest of the country, with a colder atmosphere

Today, with the arrival of a front, cloud cover will increase, but this front is somewhat weak and won't bring much precipitation. The disturbance will bring snow to the Pyrenees in Lleida, with some scattered showers early in the morning in several districts, wind in both ends of the region, and a more wintry feel.

Sunday: change in weather, overcast skies and snow in the Pyrenees

Cloud cover will generally increase, with mostly overcast skies across the country. The day will be gray and lackluster, with no sunshine. It will snow in the Pyrenees, especially on the northern slopes, with the snow level dropping from the initial 1,500 m to 1,200 m by midday. This snowfall will be less significant than recent ones and at higher elevations, but it could still add 10 to 30 cm of new snow in 24 hours to the ski resorts of the Aran Valley and northern Pallars Sobirà. The avalanche risk is moderate (level 2 out of 5) above 2,100 m in the Aran Valley and the northern part of Pallars Sobirà.

Early in the day, some light rain is possible in the Poniente region, potentially accumulating a few tenths of a liter. The morning will be gray and damp. As the front passes, especially from midday onwards, the mistral and tramontana winds will return and blow strongly in the Ebro and Empordà regions, with gusts exceeding 70 km/h.

Temperatures will gradually decrease, with a more wintry midday and many low temperatures recorded in the late afternoon.

During the early morning hours, there was a light frost in the western part of Catalonia and in some valleys, as well as in the high mountains. In the Pyrenean valleys, temperatures generally hovered around -2°C, as well as in the Pla de Lleida. In central Catalonia, they nearly reached 0°C (Vic). On the coast, temperatures did not drop below 7°C. Today's highs will be somewhat limited by the lack of sunshine and will range between 15°C and 17°C, while in the western part of Catalonia they will reach around 11°C. The air will be cold due to the lack of sunlight and high humidity.

A changeable week, with a new front on Tuesday

The weather will continue to change next week, with the passage of new Atlantic fronts bringing varying amounts of precipitation, especially in the Pyrenees, with more snow at mid and high elevations. Monday will be a transitional day, with fairly clear skies, except in the inland plains, where fog will be a constant feature, keeping the weather damp and cold until midday, when it will lift. Thin clouds and somewhat low temperatures are expected early in the morning, with frost inland and in the Pyrenees. Tuesday will be overcast again, with a new front bringing scattered, light rain and not much accumulation, particularly in the western part of the Pyrenees and the foothills. Snow is expected again in the northernmost Pyrenees of Lleida province above 1,300 meters. Wednesday will see a return to clear skies, with more fog in the western part of the country and in the pre-Pyrenean valleys. On Thursday, thin clouds will increase with the arrival of a new front towards the evening and early hours of Friday. Temperatures will fluctuate, but will remain moderate or slightly below average. Between Tuesday and Thursday, it will be colder, with frost inland and in the Pyrenees, where a temperature inversion will bring midwinter-like temperatures in the early morning (minimums in the Pyrenean valleys around -5°C). Cold conditions are expected during the early mornings in the rest of the region (minimums of 0°C inland and 5°C on the coast).
