The weather

Snow in the Pyrenees of Lleida and clouds in the rest of the country, with a colder atmosphere

Weak front and falling temperatures

BarcelonaA change in the weather is expected during the latter part of the weekend. With the arrival of a front, cloud cover will increase, but this front is somewhat weak and won't bring much precipitation. The disturbance will bring more snow to the Pyrenees in Lleida, with some scattered showers early in the day in several districts, wind at both ends of the region, and a more wintry feel.

Sunday: change in weather, overcast skies and snow in the Pyrenees

Cloud cover will generally increase, and between the early hours of the morning and the early afternoon, snow will fall in the Pyrenees, especially on the northern slopes, with the snow level descending from the initial 1,500 meters to 1,200 meters by midday. This snowfall will be less significant than recent snowfalls at higher elevations, but it could add 10 to 30 centimeters to the ski resorts in the Aran Valley and northern Pallars Sobirà. The avalanche risk is moderate (level 2 out of 5) above 2,100 meters in the Aran Valley and the northern part of the Pallars Sobirà region.

Clouds will prevail across the rest of the country, with some light rain possible in the Ponent region during the early morning hours. The morning will be gray and damp. The mistral and tramontana winds will return and blow strongly in the Ebro and Empordà valleys, with gusts exceeding 70 km/h. Temperatures will gradually decrease, with a more wintry midday and many lows recorded in the late afternoon.

No frost is expected during the early hours of Sunday (except for some light frosts in certain valleys and high mountain areas). In the Pyrenean valleys, temperatures will generally hover around 0°C, while inland they will remain above 2°C. Coastal temperatures will not fall below 10°C. Maximum temperatures, on the other hand, will range between 15°C and 17°C, and in the western part of the country will reach around 11°C. The air will be cool due to the lack of sunlight and high humidity.

A changeable week, with a new front arriving on Tuesday.

The weather will continue to change next week, with new Atlantic fronts bringing varying amounts of precipitation, especially in the Pyrenees, with more snow at mid and high elevations. Temperatures will fluctuate, but will remain at or below average. A more or less active front will bring further showers between Tuesday and Wednesday, with light amounts spread across the region. The snow level will remain low, around 1000 meters.

The weather will remain cold, especially in the high mountains. Monday and Tuesday will bring even colder conditions, with frost inland and, above all, in the Pyrenees, where temperatures will again reach midwinter levels (minimums in the valleys around -6°C). Cold, wintry conditions will also prevail in the rest of the country (minimums of 0°C inland and 3°C on the coast). From Thursday onwards, the situation will improve, with calmer weather and temperatures that will continue to fall, particularly during the early mornings, which will still be cold.
