The weather

Showers expected until tonight, but a brief respite from the rain tomorrow.

The passage of new Atlantic fronts will keep the weather dynamic all week, with a bit of everything.

BarcelonaThe first week of February has begun with another change in the weather. A cold front has just passed through, bringing a new round of showers practically everywhere, a situation that will continue until late tonight. Overall, there won't be much rain, but the precipitation will be more significant on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees, with snowfall around 1,200 meters in the western Pyrenees and above 1,400 meters in the rest of the country. The passage of the front will also bring strong gusts of wind throughout the region. Today is Candlemas, and the saying goes that "if Candlemas cries (it rains), winter is over; if Candlemas laughs (it's sunny), winter is alive." So, today Candlemas is crying. We'll have to see if the saying holds true and if winter really does have little time left.

However, overnight the rain will move across the north of the country, and tomorrow the weather will be much calmer and more pleasant, with only minor exceptions. Temperatures will drop and the weather will be wintry without extremes. The week will continue to change with the passage of new fronts, and between Wednesday and especially Thursday, rain and snow will return.

Tuesday: the most productive day

After the cold front and the rain that will fall until late into the night, Tuesday will bring much calmer weather. Sunshine will prevail in most areas, with morning fog and more cloud cover in the Ebro Valley and the west. Generally, no rain is expected, but some light showers or drizzle are possible on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida, in Els Ports, and in the Valencian Community, with a snow level between 800 and 1,000 meters. Minor variations in an otherwise calm climate. Winds will blow from the west and southwest, with some moderate gusts in the northeast and at higher elevations, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop, both minimums and maximums, with a fairly typical winter feel for this time of year. Many temperatures will range between 10°C and 15°C during the middle of the day.

New weather change expected in the coming days

Unsettled weather will increase again on Wednesday, with a risk of scattered showers, especially in the morning. On Thursday, a new, more active front will bring another round of rain and more snow to the Pyrenees, although the snow level will be higher as temperatures rise. There is no end in sight to this dynamic weather pattern.
