The weather

It's calmer today, but new changes are coming in the next few days.

The passage of new Atlantic fronts will keep the weather dynamic all week, with a bit of everything.

BarcelonaThe first week of February has started off eventful. Yesterday, a front of showers swept across the entire country. Rainfall amounts were generally modest, with most readings between 1 and 9 liters per square meter. However, on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and in the Pre-Pyrenees, the precipitation was somewhat heavier, exceeding 10 or even 20 liters per square meter, and there was a fresh snowfall at mid and high elevations. Yesterday was Candlemas, and the saying goes that "if Candlemas weeps (it rains), winter is over; if Candlemas laughs (it's sunny), winter is alive." So, yesterday Candlemas wept. We'll have to see if the saying holds true and if winter really has little time left. For the moment, there's no sign of spring in sight. In fact, temperatures are expected to drop between today and tomorrow, making the weather feel more wintry. This Tuesday will bring a break from the rain in most areas, with more sunshine. This improvement will be short-lived, however, as more weather changes are expected throughout the week due to the passage of new weather fronts.

Tuesday: the most productive day

After the front and rain of the last few hours, Tuesday will be much calmer. Sunshine will prevail in most areas, with morning fog and more cloud cover in the Ebro Valley and the west. Generally, no rain is expected, but some light showers or drizzle are possible on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida, in Els Ports, and in the Valencian Community, with a snow level between 800 and 1,000 meters. A few showers may also reach the western part of the region in the evening. Minor variations in an otherwise calm climate for most of the day. A light breeze will blow from the west and southwest, with some moderate gusts in the northeast and at higher elevations, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop, both minimums and maximums, with a fairly typical winter feel for this time of year. This morning you'll need to bundle up as it's colder, although frost is rare outside the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. Around midday, temperatures will range between 10°C and 15°C.

New weather change expected in the coming days

Unsettled weather will increase again on Wednesday, with a risk of scattered showers, especially in the morning. On Thursday, a new, more active front will bring another round of rain and more snow to the Pyrenees, although the snow level will be higher as temperatures rise. There is no end in sight to this dynamic weather pattern.
