A respite from the turbulent weather for a few days, with milder middays.
Variable skies with rising temperatures, with further changes expected towards the end of the week.
BarcelonaWe've started the week very calmly across the country, with warmer temperatures. This will be the trend for today and the coming days: calm, variable skies with no rain, and temperatures that will continue to rise. We can expect much more pleasant middays with temperatures slightly above normal for this time of year. In fact, yesterday temperatures reached between 16 and 18 °C in the south of the country and in some areas of the pre-coastal region, and last night the minimum temperatures rose significantly, with a much more moderate morning chill. Therefore, the week of the bearded ones (referring to the Spanish word for bearded men) will not be particularly cold this year. There will also be significant temperature inversions—colder at lower elevations than at higher elevations—during the night and early morning, and morning fog. The new development this Tuesday will be the presence of more intervals of low clouds along the coast and pre-coastal areas, especially around Barcelona and Tarragona. The weather maps indicate that the week could end with changes that would bring more rain and a more wintry feel.
Tuesday: calm and few nuances
The weather will remain calm today, Tuesday, with no rain expected anywhere. The only change will be intervals of low cloud in coastal and pre-coastal areas, especially around Barcelona and Tarragona, particularly until mid-morning and from 9:00 AM until late evening. In the rest of the region, sunshine will continue to combine with bands of high, thin clouds that may obscure the sky. There will also be morning fog in plains and inland valleys. Minor variations in an otherwise calm context. At higher elevations—especially in the Pyrenees—on the Costa Brava, and in the northern part of the Costa de Barcelona, a southwesterly wind will blow, locally with some strong gusts, and rough seas are expected along the northeast coast.
Minimum temperatures have risen significantly, especially where there are low clouds, and maximum temperatures will also increase. The morning chill is very mild and moderate, with only minor frosts. These are limited to the valleys of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, as well as some very light frosts in inland and pre-coastal areas. The temperature rise will be particularly noticeable in the far northeast due to the warmed southerly winds. Many highs are expected to reach 14 to 18 °C, with quite pleasant conditions at midday. A marked temperature inversion will also persist until mid-morning.
Possible changes at the end of the week
On Wednesday afternoon, a weakening front will brush the Pyrenees and western Pre-Pyrenees, bringing increased cloud cover and a chance of light rain. However, the weather will generally remain calm, with temperatures slightly above average for this time of year. Weather maps indicate that changes are expected between Friday and especially over the weekend. In this regard, instability will increase, and rain is possible in several regions. More snow is also expected in the Pyrenees, although at higher elevations than last weekend. This still uncertain situation will need to be clarified and is expected to cause a drop in temperatures.
