New weathered front today, with a wintry feel
There will be more clouds than rain, in anticipation of a calmer and gentler Immaculate Conception.
This Thursday, a new, weakened Atlantic front will cross our region, bringing some changes. Cloud cover will return across the area, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Light rain is expected in the Pyrenees, but the rest of the country will see virtually no rain. There will only be a few very light and brief showers or drizzles in the western and northeastern parts of the region. Temperatures will remain relatively mild, making today a wintry day. We can expect a significant rise in temperatures leading up to the Immaculate Conception long weekend, bringing milder afternoons and relatively calm weather.
Thursday: New weather change
The passage of a weakening Atlantic front will increase cloud cover everywhere. It will be a less sunny day, but with little risk of rain. Throughout the day, some light precipitation will arrive in the Pyrenees, especially on the northern slopes, with a snow level around 1,200 m that could drop to 1,000 m by evening. In the rest of the country, a few light showers or a few weak, passing rain showers are possible in the Ponent and Ebro regions during the morning. In the afternoon, this risk will shift towards the northeast. Little rain is expected, and most of the country will remain dry. Some light rain is also possible in the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands will see some scattered showers, especially between Mallorca and Menorca.
All this with minimum temperatures rising in the south and west due to cloud cover. Maximum temperatures will drop in Girona and Barcelona, with a cold, wintry feel and many readings between 8 and 13°C, but will rise in the rest of the country. Westerly winds will strengthen in the southern half and at higher elevations in the Pyrenees.
A calm and less cold day is expected.
On Friday, the mistral wind will strengthen and blow strongly in the central and southern parts of the country, in the high Pyrenees, and in the northern Alt Empordà region. Some gusts may be strong: caution is advised, especially in high mountain areas. Sunshine will prevail, combined with some intervals of cloud cover. The exception will be on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees, where new precipitation will begin to fall—especially in the early morning and late evening—which may also occur intermittently in the south. Temperatures will begin to rise.
During the weekend and the Immaculate Conception holiday on Monday, the weather will be very pleasant and sunny. No precipitation is expected, making for a very enjoyable few days. Temperatures will rise significantly, both day and night, with milder conditions at midday.
